# Recipes

> Crafting, smelting, stonecutting, smithing and brewing recipes for your items.

A recipe is an entry with `type: recipe`. Which kind it is follows from its keys. Recipes reload with `/lodeitems reload`, and players unlock them in their recipe book automatically.

## Ingredients and results

* A bare name like `ruby` looks for a LodeItems item first, then a vanilla one.
* `minecraft:ruby` or `myserver:ruby` names exactly one.
* `#minecraft:planks` is any item in a tag.
* A result is `item` or `item amount`: `result: ruby 4`.

Custom items in recipes only match the real custom item, never a plain item of the same base material.

## Shaped crafting

```yaml theme={null}
ruby_sword_recipe:
  type: recipe
  result: ruby_sword
  shape:
    - " R "
    - " R "
    - " S "
  ingredients:
    R: ruby
    S: stick
```

Each letter in `shape` is keyed in `ingredients`. Spaces are empty slots.

## Shapeless crafting

```yaml theme={null}
ruby_dust:
  type: recipe
  result: ruby_dust 2
  ingredients: [ruby, "#minecraft:coals"]
```

```
```yaml theme={null}

## Recipe book groups
