# Paintings

> Add your own paintings, placeable from the painting item or a custom one.

```yaml items/art/paintings.yml theme={null}
sunset:
  type: painting
  texture: sunset.png      # 16 pixels per block, so 2x1 blocks is 32x16
  width: 2                 # in blocks
  height: 1
  title: "<yellow>Sunset"
  author: "<gray>Mira"
```

To let players place it, give an item the `painting/variant` component:

```yaml theme={null}
sunset_painting:
  material: painting
  name: "<yellow>Sunset"
  components:
    painting/variant: "lodeitems:sunset"
```

> [!WARNING]
>
> Like music discs, paintings are only accepted at startup. **Adding or removing a painting needs a server restart.** Changing its texture only needs a reload.
