# Installation

> Put LodeItems on your server and check that the pack reaches players.

**1. Install the jar**

Put `LodeItems.jar` in your server's `plugins/` folder. You need **Paper for Minecraft 26.2** and Java 25.

**2. Start the server**

Start the server once. LodeItems creates its folder with some content to start from: a set of 3D armour and two blocks whose textures join up.

```text theme={null}
plugins/LodeItems/
├── config.yml          settings: pack delivery, block slots, elements
├── items/              all your content goes in here
│   ├── armor/
│   │   └── lodestone/      Lodestone armour (3D)
│   └── blocks/
│       ├── lodestone/      Lodestone Tiles (connected)
│       └── glass/          Framed Glass (connected, see-through)
├── cache/              saved assignments - never delete this
└── pack.zip            the resource pack it built
```

**3. Open the web port**

LodeItems serves the resource pack from its own small web server on port **8163**. Players download the pack from there, so that port has to be reachable from outside, just like your game port.

If you can't open another port (some hosting panels don't allow it), see [Resource pack](https://items.lodemc.net/resource-pack.md) for other ways to host it.

**4. Join and test**

Join the server and accept the resource pack. Then run:

```text theme={null}
/lodeitems give lodestone_chestplate
```

Put it on and press F5: you should be wearing stone-and-slate armour in 3D. Try `/lodeitems browse` to see everything in a menu: each top folder of `items/` (`armor`, `blocks`) is a category.

Place a few `lodestone_tiles` or `framed_glass` next to each other to see them join into one surface.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Keep the `cache/` folder, and include it in your backups. It remembers which block and which emoji character each of your blocks and glyphs uses. If it is lost, blocks that are already placed in your world can turn into different blocks.
