# Introduction

> Custom items, blocks and props for Paper, written in YAML with their textures right beside them.

LodeItems is a Paper plugin for adding your own **items, blocks, props, 3D armour, emojis, sounds and more** to a Minecraft server. You describe each one in a short YAML file. LodeItems builds the resource pack and sends it to your players.

```yaml items/gems/ruby.yml theme={null}
ruby:
  name: "<red>Ruby"
  lore:
    - "<gray>A polished gemstone."
  texture: ruby.png   # the picture sitting next to this file
```

Run `/lodeitems reload` and the ruby is in the game.

## What makes it different

> **Files live together**
>
> Textures, models and sounds go **right beside the YAML** that uses them, in any folder you like. You never need to know how a resource pack is laid out.

> **Room for lots of content**
>
> Items and props have no practical limit. Blocks get about 1,500 solid looks, plus see-through and walk-through ones, all handed out for you.

> **Fast enough to build with**
>
> Custom blocks cost the same as vanilla blocks in the world, so you can build with them, paste them with WorldEdit and fill whole areas.

One broken entry never stops the rest from loading. Every error gives you the file, the line and what was wrong.
